Carolyn Falconer


Ms Carolyn Falconer is a senior ICT analyst and a veteran of stakeholder satisfaction research, having specialised exclusively in this field for more than six years at Insight (before joining BMI-T), a pioneer in the field of Stakeholder Satisfaction research in South Africa, and which is now part of Synovate.

Cal has more than ten years of ICT industry experience and has been responsible for running and implementing numerous research projects, developing research methodologies, running surveys and has conducted many syndicated and private client studies whilst at BMI-T. This involves comprehensive project management, with the ability to liaise and manage the process at all levels, as well as requiring a thorough understanding of research, the design and implementation of survey programmes and the logical and systematic analysis of data utilising various sources of information and market-based studies. 

Carolyn has been involved in running numerous business-to-business stakeholder satisfaction studies at BMI-T for stakeholders for the past 4 years such as the Development Bank of South Africa, Dimension Data, Bankseta, Fasset, Seda, Gauteng Enterprise Propeller, SA Weather Service, ICASA, ArcelorMittal Steel, Neotel, Telkom, Siemens, Fujitsu, ATNS, Fedex, Transnet Pension Fund, Roche, Manica Africa, Renfreight, Safmarine and many more. Cal has been with BMI-T since 2006 and holds a BA degree from Wits University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Development from the Rand Afrikaans University. Since being at BMI-T, Cal has worked on a number of projects for the major players such as Telkom, MTN and Cell C. These have included a comprehensive international study on number portability and the implementation thereof for MTN, strategic direction and the competitive landscape for Cell C and smaller consumer-based research projects for Telkom, Siemens and Ericsson. Cal has also written reports for BMI-T on the SME market – on an annual basis and which involves a comprehensive consumer research project – as well as mobility and 3G trends, the regulatory environment and the effect of the recently promulgated EC Act, including the future competitive landscape and players in that market as well as other various market reports. Cal has co-authored a project for USAASA that involved updating the definitions of Universal Service, Universal Access, Needy People and Under-served Areas for the organization.
